Kicking or Punting
The main idea is to get the ball to your team while preventing the other team from gaining possession in the more dangerous areas.
To this end a goalkeeper's punt should be aimed for near the sidelines on a shorter kick, such as near the half-line, but can be sent across the middle on a long kick. Aiming for the area between the opposing midfielder and defenders is ideal.
Hit through and under the ball, rather then across it. For windy days and lower more direct kicks, drop the ball from a lower position and move your center of gravity farther forward. Good punts require lots of practice.
